Portland is the largest city in the state of Maine and serves as the county seat of Cumberland County. It is a coastal city located on a peninsula extending into Casco Bay on the southern coast of Maine.

Portland was incorporated in 1786 and briefly served as the state capital before it was moved to Augusta.
