Quick Introduction

He served as the 18th president of the United States from 1869 to 1877. Born in Ohio, Ulysses S. Grant (April 27, 1822 – July 23, 1885) was an American military officer and politician. Under Grant’s leadership, the Justice Department was created, and he worked with the Radical Republicans to protect African Americans during Reconstruction. During the American Civil War, he led the Union Army to victory as its Commanding General.
