Xerox wasn’t born as Xerox. It started life as the Haloid Company, a small business selling photographic paper. In the 1930s, a physicist named Chester Carlson invented a revolutionary process called xerography. Xerography (from Greek words meaning “dry writing”) involved using static electricity to transfer images onto paper – no messy inks or chemicals! Haloid recognized the potential, partnered with Carlson, and the rest is history.
