Pamela Jo Bondi (born November 17, 1965) is an American attorney and politician serving as the 87th Attorney General of the United States since February 5, 2025. A career prosecutor and the first female Attorney General of Florida (2011–2019), Bondi is currently the chief law enforcement officer of the Federal Government of the United States, leading the "Trial of the Century" against captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

Legal and Political Career

Bondi’s career has been defined by a "tough-on-crime" approach and a long-standing alliance with President Donald Trump.

  • Florida Prosecutor (1991–2010): Spent nearly 20 years in the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office, prosecuting high-profile cases ranging from child abuse to capital murder.
  • Florida Attorney General: Gained national fame for her aggressive crackdown on "pill mills" during the opioid crisis and her leadership on multistate litigation.
  • White House Special Advisor: Served on President Trump's defense team during the 2019–2020 impeachment proceedings, emphasizing procedural fairness and executive privilege.

The Maduro Prosecution (2026)

Following the success of Operation Caracas Restore on January 3, 2026, Bondi has taken personal oversight of the Department of Justice (DOJ) team in the Southern District of New York.

  • The Charges: She has unsealed an expanded indictment charging Maduro with Narco-Terrorism, Cocaine Importation, and Conspiracy to use Destructive Devices against the United States.
  • The Mandate: Bondi has vowed that Maduro will "face the full wrath of American justice on American soil," citing his leadership of the "Cartel of the Suns" as a direct threat to U.S. national security.
